A Relaxing Weekend

Friday night was our first “movie night” at home with the girls. We changed their normal routine and gave them a bath right after dinner and went downstairs and watched How to Train Your Dragon. We had lots of popcorn and a little candy. The girls loved it and we had a good time too!

Sheac Yee went to a quilt festival (PIQF) on Saturday and I was home with the girls. We took the dog for a walk and then came home and I spent an hour trying to stuff a huge inflatable slide into the itty bitty bag that it came in while the girls played in the back yard. After that, we went to the grand opening of our neighborhood park. It was just okay and we didn’t stay long. The speech by the council member was boring for the girls and I think they mostly wanted him to stop talking so they could go back to playing. We spent the afternoon hanging out at home and playing CandyLand Castle. It is the first game Nadia has figured out the rules too and that the family can play together and now she wants to play all the time :)

On Sunday, we went to our friend’s (Phill and Mae) house after church and just sat and talked into the afternoon. We went home for dinner and Mekayla wanted another movie night. I told her that movie night would not happen very often because we cannot eat popcorn and candy before bed all the time. She asked if we could have “pretend movie night” and we told her that she could watch a movie without the candy and popcorn. So, we watched How to Train Your Dragon again. It’s no surprise that the kids would want to watch it again so soon. What was surprising was that Sheac Yee and I enjoyed it too even though we had just recently seen it.

Pictures from the Beach

We were just looking over the pictures from our day at the beach and they turned out great. Our photographer friends Scott and Cari (Custom Creations Photography) took the pictures and they did a great job, as they always do. Any prints should be ordered through them, but they were nice enough to let us post a few photos on our blog.

Housewarming Party

We had our housewarming party this weekend. It went well, but we didn’t take any pictures of the event. It seemed like most people had a good time. I asked Mekayla if she had a good time and she said it was “the best day ever”, so it was good for at least one person there :)

We were trying to get all of our move in list completed before the party. We did not quite make it but we got soo much done and both Sheac Yee and I are happy with the progress we made. The house no longer looks like a storage facility and we are exhausted. Now time to rest!

Backyard

Our backyard is nearly finished. We are done with the heavy watering schedule that is required when you first plant the flowers, bushes, sod, trees, etc. and now everything is looking good. Here are some pictures of the finished product. Ignore the holes in the corner. That was the work of a gopher that moved in a few days after the grass was in place, but we finally got rid of him.

Sunday At The Beach

We went to the beach yesterday. We played in the sand and tried to build sand castles while Nadia crushed them. Then we had a lot of fun running up to the water and running away from the waves screaming as the waves came in. The girls were screaming, not the adults. We had a great time despite all of the unfortunate incidents:

  • Nadia ran into our friends son head first at full speed and they both ended up with a bump on their forehead
  • A seagull ate the goldfish crackers that we brought for our kids to snack on (whole bag)
  • We all got a bit wet while posing for a picture in front of the oncoming waves (the Ocean water at Carmel is cold)
  • Our friends son fell while running away from an oncoming wave and got washed over

It was a photo shoot and fun day at the beach combination thing. Hopefully we got some good photos from it all. On the way home we stopped at Phil’s Fish Market for dinner. It was awesome as usual. Sheac Yee had the Cioppino which is their signature dish and I had the Clam Chowder. It was one of the best clam chowder’s that I have ever eaten – maybe even the best. I have to go back to San Francisco soon so that I can make a proper comparison :) Sheac Yee and I ordered a crab cocktail appetizer to split but we barely got to eat any of it because the kids devoured it. It’s good to know that they can enjoy good seafood. They really enjoyed their fish and chips and, surprisingly, when given the choice between McDonald’s and Phil’s, they choose Phil’s.

Making Progress

Today I changed the header picture to one that is more personal. Sheac Yee took the picture shown on one of our trips to 17-Mile Drive. It is a picture of the Lone Cypress. I have always liked that picture so it seems appropriate for our website.

The links on the side are now up-to-date and have mine and Sheac Yee’s blog as well as my Facebook page. I don’t really post anything to Facebook. I post to the blog and it gets transferred to Facebook, but adding me as a friend let’s me keep up with your posts which is nice :)

I am also working with the videos and pictures but those may have to come later.

It’s A Start

I have procrastinated the build of our family website for a long time.  I finally decided to get something here for people to see when they visit our page.  I am not sure if the blog format will be permanent, but it is better than a blank page.  Hopefully, we will be able to add information here for our friends and family to read.
